Can you imagine this: Your very own farm, 32 acres of lush fields, gardens and orchards; blue skies; greenhouses filled with young plants; a herd of friendly dairy goats munching pasture and browse; groups of children busily engaged learning practical, simple living skills under sensitive guidance; young adults training for farming careers; box after box packed and brimming with fresh fruits and vegetables headed for Spokane's neediest families; visitors enjoying picnics and potlucks in the dappled shade of the farm's Ponderosa Pine forest?
It sounds like a pleasant daydream, but this vision is already a reality, right here in Spokane County. It's the 32-acre Pine Meadow Farm located not far from the cities of Spokane and Cheney.
The Center is working hard to become well recognized by the community as a transformational center for learning, teaching and research. The Center's objective is to become a regional destination for experiential education centered around nutrition, farming, gardening, food system literacy and sustainable living skills tailored for audiences of all ages. We are dedicated to contributing to the general improvement of our regional food system through agricultural education. We see our role as a partner with other educational institutions and resources in the region as we collectively address important issues affecting the future of our region's young people, especially issues of nutrition, food security, food production and the regional food economy.
Now we are reaching out to you. We need your help to keep this educational and charitable farm going. We invite you to get involved; as a Pine Meadow Farm Center Board member, Advisory Board member, volunteer or donor. You will love the fruits that will bear from the seeds you plant today. Please contact us if you are interested.
